<< Back | Breaking free from the hustle of Kandy for a half day trek
If you are seeking a short break from your tight travel plan through Sri Lanka, hiking Hantana Mountain Range is the perfect experience for you. It is not only a half day trip to the countryside going through tea plantations, it can also be easily enhanced by some cultural experiences. Take a Tuk Tuk for about 500 LKR which not only brings you to all needed points of interests, but also waits for you and eventually brings you right back again to Clock Inn Kandy.
Just as you like it, the Tuk Tuk could either bring you directly to Hantana Mountain Range just to do the trekking, or you can stop half-way for some local experience- it is your choice. Enjoy a sip of tea in the midst of tea plantations like locals do it. Wait, there is more to come. On the opposite side of the little tea hut, there is a small tea factory museum to visit which gives you an insight into the tea production. Ready for some exercise? Ask the Tuk Tuk driver to bring you to Hantana Mountain Range to start your half day trek. Depending on your fitness, it takes you about 30 minutes to an hour to reach the top in order to enjoy one of the nicest views of Kandy city. For those who are looking for a longer trekking experience, we recommend to extend the half day trek by passing the transmission station to the next mountain summit. When you are on your way back down to the Tuk Tuk, you might be lucky and catch some ladies plucking ea. If you want to make your friends a little bit jealous back home, you can ask one of those ladies to assist her for a few minutes and take pictures. Don’t forget to tip them when you are done.
